Mr. James Bernard Turner

THE GALLATIN NEWS EXAMINER WILL SAY 1PM...HOWEVER THE CORRECT TIME IS 12PM SERVICE, VISITATION AT 11AM*** James Bernard Turner was the eleventh child born to the late Lola Bell and Archie Divine Turner on December 20, 1961 in Detroit, Michigan.He departed this life on October 6, 2014 at his home. James gave his life to Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church, 290 E. Winchester Street in Gallatin, TN under the leadership of Pastor Derrick Jackson. James was educated in the Sumner County public school system and graduated from McClain High School in Fresno, California. He received a full band scholarship to Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a gifted singer and saxophone player. As a student at Morris Brown, he performed and won first place in a musical competition playing the saxophone. After his stay in Atlanta, he relocated to Fresno, CA. He continued to play his saxophone with various musical groups in southern California along with his brother Charles. James was employed with the Juvenile Justice System in Fresno where he met and married Melony Miligi, the mother of his two sons, Jamal and Jasoni. James later returned to Gallatin and was employed at Kia Motors in Madison, TN, and The GAP until he became unable to work. James was a kind and giving person. He never met a stranger and always opened his home to everyone. Preceding him in death, two brothers: Kenneth Wayne Turner and William Earl Turner; and parents: Archie Divine and Lola Bell Coakley-Turner. Cherishing his precious memories are his two sons: Jamal Archie (Karen) Turner of Gallatin, TN and Jasoni Ashard Turner of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren: Brianna Arias and Kesoni Turner both of Gallatin, TN; five very devoted sisters: Lavenia (James) Crutcher, Christine (Billy) Hicks, Sherli (Walter) Bass, Archilene (Gary) Lauderdale and Marilyn (Kevin) Sweat all of Gallatin, TN; five very devoted brothers: Paul (Donna) Turner of Hendersonville, TN, Andrew (Frances) Turner of Gallatin, TN, Larry (Mary) Turner of Hendersonville, TN, Charles (Marri) Turner of Fresno, CA and Robert (Marie) Turner of Gallatin, TN; two uncles: Raymond Coakley and Lee Roy Coakley, both of Gallatin, TN; fifty-four nieces, fifty nephews and numerous cousins and friends.
